16 new projects to be funded in support of early childhood education 

In May 2024, the Endowment Fund launched its third Call for Projects to identify new educational projects to support disadvantaged children aged 0 to 8 in the territories where bioMérieux operates.

France 

Agir pour l'école (Lyon) - This project aims to help 1,000 underprivileged children aged 5 to 7 in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes improve their reading and math skills.

Fondation Apprentis d'Auteuil (Lyon) - This experimental project aims to support four vulnerable families during the first 1000 days of their child's life to enable them to grow up in secure conditions that meet all of their needs.

Madame Ruetabaga (Grenoble) - This project offers street workshops in Grenoble for more than 800 children aged 0 to 8 and 60 single mothers living in poverty.

Prête-moi tes ailes (Lyon) - The project aims to support children with Down syndrome by creating an educational space that provides adapted school support for children and respite for parents.

Sport dans la ville (Lyon) - This project aims to integrate sport and school support for 300 children aged 6 to 8 from priority neighborhoods.

Ma Chance Moi Aussi (Décines) - The Endowment Fund renews its long-standing partnership with Ma Chance Moi Aussi to support another group of vulnerable young children from disadvantaged neighborhoods.

North America 

Catholic Community Services of Utah (Salt Lake City) - The “Bridging the Gap” project combats food insecurity by distributing nutritious food packages to 19 elementary schools. It aims to improve students’ concentration, academic performance and well-being while helping families overcome food difficulties.

Guadalupe School (Salt Lake City) - This project offers an after-school program supporting 200 children aged 4 to 8 and 60 professionals. The aim is to improve the children’s academic performance, socio-emotional learnings preparing children for future success.

Science is Elementary (San Jose) - The “Science is for me” project aims to make science accessible to children aged 5 to 7 in San Jose, focusing on historically marginalized communities.

Europe and Middle East (EME)

Fundación A LA PAR (Spain, Madrid) - This project supports 46 mothers with intellectual disabilities, helping them with daily tasks and parenting while ensuring the healthy development of their children aged 0 to 8 (70 in total). The aim is also to prevent the children from being placed in institutions by offering them educational support, social activities and home assistance.

AFRICA

Handicap International (Egypt, Cairo) - The project aims to provide early childhood development services to vulnerable migrant and Egyptian children in Greater Cairo. It targets 720 children aged 0-8 with developmental delays or disabilities, as well as 1,200 vulnerable women from migrant and host communities.

Asia Pacific (ASPAC)

Plan International Hong Kong (Indonesia, Jakarta) - The aim of this project is to promote early childhood development for 1,200 disadvantaged children aged 0-6 years and their families, using an inclusive approach that actively seeks to transform gender norms.

Save the Children (Hong Kong) - The project aims to create a safe and caring environment for kindergarten children aged 3-6 from low-income and minority families. Through partnerships with 8 kindergartens, the project will deliver positive parenting sessions, child protection training for teachers, and social skill activities for children.

Children of the Mékong (Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand) - The Endowment Fund renews its historic partnership with Children of the Mékong and continues to support vulnerable children from ethnic minorities in Vietnam, slums in the Philippines and refugee children in Thailand.

 

Latin American (LATAM)

Fundación Kaleidos (Argentina, Buenos Aires) - The “Jardín Maternal Jakairá” project offers free daycare to 26 children whose parents are still teenagers. It supports their development through musical and artistic activities, enabling young parents to pursue their studies while strengthening parent-child bonds.

Arca do Saber (Brazil, Sao Paulo) - The Endowment Fund renews its partnership with Arca do Saber in Brazil. This project aims to support 40 children aged 6 to 8 from the Vila Prudente favela in São Paulo.
