Children of the Mekong - Philippines
Children of the Mekong is a French nonprofit that has been working to provide schooling for the poorest children in Southeast Asia since 1958. The organization helps children grow through child sponsorship and education projects In Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, and Burma.
In the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand, the Fund supports kindergartens and nurseries to protect children, stimulate their abilities, and give them a taste for school.
In the Philippines, the Fund is active at nine sites, providing support in:
- sanitary and hygiene, by distributing food and hygiene kits;
- basic education needs by participating in educational workshops; and
- parenting by training parents in children's educational needs.
More than 630 children have so far benefited from this project.
