Strengthening the knowledge and skills of disadvantaged or vulnerable parents, as well as the professionals and volunteers who support them, is a key lever in fighting early inequality. To this end, the Endowment Fund supports PAPOTO in the implementation of its early prevention program titled "The Fundamental Needs of Young Children in the City."

This program, which takes a comprehensive approach to prevention, is broken down into several concrete actions aimed at supporting both parents, early childhood professionals, and volunteers involved in assisting families.

Actions to Support Parents

The primary goal is to strengthen parenting, particularly among the most vulnerable families, by providing them with the necessary resources to better understand and meet the needs of their children. To achieve this, PAPOTO offers various support actions, including:

  • Parenting guidance workshops to help parents in their daily educational role;
  • Conferences and video capsules that provide practical and theoretical information on child development;
  • Meetings and “outdoor” interventions, aimed at engaging with families in their living environments;
  • Awareness days focused on parenting issues, as well as training to designate “parent ambassadors” who relay this knowledge within their communities.

Actions for Early Childhood Professionals

The program extends beyond supporting parents. PAPOTO is also committed to strengthening the skills of early childhood professionals. This is done through:

  • Specialized training on PAPOTO methods and tools, enabling professionals to better understand the fundamental needs of young children;
  • Conferences and exchanges with pedagogical and educational teams to foster collaboration and the sharing of best practices within early childhood care settings.

Results and Future Outlook

In 2024, PAPOTO carried out 27 concrete actions as part of this program. The year 2025 is set to be even more ambitious, with 76 actions planned to reach more families and professionals.

This early prevention program, supported by the Endowment Fund, is a powerful tool for addressing social and educational inequalities from the earliest years of life, by giving every child the best chances for success. By supporting parents, professionals, and volunteers, PAPOTO is working toward a fairer and more equal society
